2nd place at Caraway Speedway

Friday's Race Recap

ASHEBORO, NC -- Jordan Anderson made his way back to the historic Caraway Speedway after not racing at the track since 2005. It didn't take Jordan long to get back in tune with the track as he was turning in fast laps throughout practice.

For the qualifying heat races, the lineup was determined by a random pill draw which placed Jordan starting from the 8th position. The starting position didn't keep Jordan from getting to the front though. By lap 4 of the 8 lap heat race Jordan had made his way into the 4th spot. Jordan continued his run to the front, but ran out of time and finished 3rd in his qualifying race, which would place him starting from the 6th position for the feature race later that night.

When the time for the race rolled around, Jordan was ready. Knowing he had a good car, Jordan's confidence was high before the start of the race. After saying a prayer with his dad, Jordan Anderson and the entire field of Legends cars pulled onto the .455 mile Caraway Speedway for their feature race of the night.

When the Green flag dropped Jordan utilized the outside lane to make his moves. On the 2nd lap when all the other drivers went to the bottom of the track in turn 3 and 4, Jordan kept his #19 machine on the outside groove and went from 6th place to 2nd place all in one corner. After moving into the 2nd spot Jordan set his sights on the leader. Just a few laps later Jordan made his move on the leader, and it was successful. Jordan led the race until a restart after a caution, when another driver moved Jordan out of the way sending him back to the 3rd position. Jordan fought back and made his way back into 2nd, with another caution coming out 2 laps later.

On this restart Jordan was once again, moved by another driver sending Jordan back into the 3rd position. With 10 laps to go Jordan started reeling in the 1st and 2nd place drivers and started to make a move on the 2nd place driver, when the leader and the 2nd place car tangled collecting Jordan in the incident as well.

After the track officials sent Jordan further back in the field because he was involved in the incident, Jordan only had 3 laps to gain as many positions as he could. When the green was out on the restart Jordan was off picking up as many positions as he could. Although he ran out of time, Jordan was able to bring his car home in the 2nd position in the Pro division.

Jordan will be racing at the Summer Shootout this coming Tuesday, Adult ticket prices are $7. Admission for children ages 6-12 is $3, and children under 6 get in free. Tickets are available at the gates, which open to the public at 5 p.m. The show runs from 7:30 p.m. - 10:15 p.m.
