Jeb Burton – No. 27 State Water Heaters Chevrolet Preview- Circuit of the Americas

News and Notes: 

– Practice; After clearing NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) technical inspection on Friday morning the No. 27 State Water Heaters Chevrolet would see the shorten new National layout of the 2.40-mile Circuit of the Americas (COTA) track for the first time in a scheduled 50-minute practice session on Friday afternoon. When the checkered flag would fly on the practice session, Jeb Burton would record a lap of 103.445 at 83.523 mph on Lap-3 of his 9-lap session putting him 36th fastest of the 41 cars entered for the NXS Focused Health 250 at COTA.

– Starting Position; Directly after the conclusion of the 50-minute practice session teams would change tires, refuel, and make minor adjustments before moving into qualifying to determine the starting order for Saturday’s Focused Health 250. In 2025, road course qualifying would consist of two groups for 20-minutes each with the field blended together at the finish of the second group to determine the starting lineup for the NXS Focused Health 250. A part of Group 2, Burton would run a fast lap of 100.214 at 86.215 mph placing the No. 27 State Water Heaters Chevrolet 14thfastest in the group at the end of the 20 minutes. After the blending of groups Burton would end up 29th fastest overall and will start Saturday’s Focused Health 250 inside Row 15 in the 29th position. 

– Circuit of the Americas Stats; Burton will make his fifth start at COTA in Saturday’s Focused Health 250. In four previous starts Burton holds an average finish of 21.0 with a career best of 10th coming in May of 2021. Completing 187 of the possible 188 laps Burton holds a 99.5% lap completion rating at COTA. In 2024, after starting in the 21stposition Burton would drive thru the field all the way up to the 10th position at the end of Stage 2, but would encounter a broken sway-bar three laps into the final stage and would limp the No. 27 home for a 30th place finish.

Blaine Perkins – No. 31 Werner Chevrolet Preview- Circuit of the Americas

– Practice; Once cleared thru NXS technical inspection on Friday afternoon the No. 31 Werner Chevrolet would hit the COTA track for the first time during a scheduled 50-minute practice session. When the 50-minutes session time expired, Blaine Perkins would record a best lap of 101.868 at 84.816 mph on Lap-15 of his 15-lap session putting him 27th quick of the 41 cars entered for the NXS Focused Health 250 at COTA.

– Starting Position; At the conclusion of the 50-minute practice session teams would bolt on a new set of Goodyear tires, refuel the tank with Sunoco fuel, and make minor adjustments before moving into qualifying to determine the starting order for Saturday’s Focused Health 250. In 2025, road course qualifying would consist of two groups for 20-minutes each with the field blended together at the finish of the second group to determine the starting lineup for the NXS Focused Health 250. Scheduled with Group 1, Perkins would lay down a fast lap of 99.247 at 90.538 mph putting the No. 31 Werner Chevrolet 9th fastest in the group at the end of the 20 minutes. After the blending of groups Perkins would end up 18th fastest overall and will start Saturday’s Focused Health 250 outside Row 10 in the 18th position.

– Circuit of the Americas Stats; Saturday’s Focused Health 250 will mark Perkins’s second career start at COTA. In his lone start at COTA in 2024, Perkins would start in the 30th position complete all 50 laps and cross the finish line in the 22nd spot in the running order.

– Practice; Once passing NXS technical inspection on Friday afternoon the No. 32 Volpi Foods Chevrolet and driver Austin Green would see the new National COTA layout for the first time during a scheduled 50-minute practice session. When the 50-minutes would expire, Green would make a quick lap of 100.789 at 85.724 mph on Lap-6 of his 8-lap session putting the young North Carolina driver 18th fast of the 41 cars entered for the NXS Focused Health 250 at COTA.

– Starting Position; Upon conclusion of the practice session NXS teams would apply new Goodyear tires, refuel with Sunoco fuel, and make minor adjustments before moving into qualifying to determine the starting order for Saturday’s Focused Health 250. In 2025, road course qualifying would consist of two groups for 20-minutes each with the field blended together at the finish of the second group to determine the starting lineup for the NXS Focused Health 250. Scheduled with Group 1, Green would lay down a fast lap of 99.313 at 90.538 mph putting the No. 32 Volpi Foods Chevrolet 10th fastest in the group at the end of the 20 minutes. After the blending of groups Green would end up 20thquick overall and will start Saturday’s Focused Health 250 outside Row 10 in the 20th position.

– Circuit of the Americas Stats; Saturday’s Focused Health 250 will mark Green’s second career NXS start at COTA. Last season’s event would see Green start in the 25th position and drive thru the field with an off sequence pit strategy to complete all 50-laps to finish in the 7th spot. Additionally, to Green’s lone NXS start at COTA, Green has extensive experience racing at COTA in Trans Am 2 type vehicles.
