Parker Retzlaff – No. 31 FUNKAWAY Chevrolet Camaro SS Preview- Road America

News and Notes: 

– Practice; After the completion of NASCAR technical inspection on Friday afternoon, Parker Retzlaff would first take to the 15-turn Road America road-course for a scheduled 50-minute practice session. In his first laps around the track known as “America’s National Park of Speed” Retzlaff would record a best lap of 137.215 at 106.204 mph on Lap-3 of his 8-lap session placing the home state Sunoco Rookie the Year Contender 27th of the 38 cars entered for Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) Road America 180.

– Starting Position; ; Immediately after the conclusion of the 50-minute practice session, NXS teams would move into qualifying for the Saturday’s Road America 180. In 2023, road course qualifying would consist of two rounds of group qualifying with the first round consisting of 15-minutes with the field split in two groups with the fastest five cars in each group moving onto the second round for a 10-minute session to determine the pole sitter. With 38 cars entered, no one will miss the race. . Retzlaff would lay down a fast lap of 134.466 at 108.375 mph on Lap-1 of his 3-Laps in Group B putting the No. 31 FUNKAWAY Chevrolet Camaro SS 11th in the group at the end of the 15 minutes and would fail to transfer on to the fast-10. At the conclusion of qualifying Retzlaff would qualify outside Row 10 in the 20th position. 

– Road America Stats; Saturday’s Road America 180 will mark Retzlaff’s debut at the picturesque 4.048 miles Wisconsin road course.

– Practice; After the completion of NASCAR technical inspection on Friday afternoon, Jeb Burton would first take to the Road America road-course for a scheduled 50-minute practice session. Burton would record a fast lap of 136.533 at 106.735 mph on Lap-8 of his 9-lap session putting the Virginia native 24th fastest of the 38 cars entered for Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) Road America 180 at Road America.

– Starting Position; Directly after the completion of the 50-minute practice session teams would move into qualifying to determine the starting order for Saturday’s Road America 180. In 2023, road course qualifying would consist of two rounds of group qualifying with the first round consisting of 15-minutes of two groups with the fastest five cars in each group moving onto the second round for a 10-minute session to determine the pole sitter. Burton would run a fast lap of 134.417 at 108.415 mph in Group B putting the No. 27 Puryear Tank Lines Chevrolet Camaro SS 10th fastest in the group at the end of the 15 minutes failing to transfer on to the fast-10. At the conclusion of qualifying Burton will start Saturday’s Road America 180 inside Row 10 in the 19th position.

– Road America Stats; Saturday’s NXS Road America 180 will mark Burton’s third NXS start at Road America. In two previous starts, Burton holds an average finish of 15.7 with an 100% lap completion rate finishing all 142 laps of the possible 142. Burton’s best Road America finish would come in 2021 where he would finish in the 14th position after starting 8th. 2022 would see Burton with a new team and a 21st place finish after starting 34th.
